Mellenbruch has twenty-one years of visitor industry experience, starting at an entry level position and working up to management, providing a broad based knowledge and skills in all areas of hotel and general operations, the visitor and hospitality industry, and in providing excellent customer service.

SUPERVISION Eighteen years in administrative and staff positions including fourteen years in mid-level management supervising a small staff.
REPORTING Developed and implemented a reporting system for monthly sales and marketing analysis. On-going analysis and reporting status and trends in the group and visitor industry markets along with consistent reporting in all areas of responsibility. Analyze of historical numbers, profit ratios and materializations to be used in budgeting and future sales goals and budgets.
PLANNING Averaged rate and occupancy projections and strategies by market for the yearly marketing plan. Development of a cohesive marketing plan. Compiled pre-planning and follow up for individual business travel and sales calls for groups up to 12 persons.
ACCOUNTING Invoiced all monies due for clients’ group activities, including commissions and taxes. Responsible for working with clients regarding invoice discrepancies and passed due invoices.
COMPUTER Knowledge of Macintosh systems including word processing, database, spreadsheets in Claris Works, Hotel Information Systems (HIS) and Springer Miller System (SMS). Experienced in Office 2007 using a Windows environment including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Thorough knowledge of ACT client system.
MARKETING/CREATIVE Extensively involved in the creation, layout, content, and placement of advertisements and sales collateral. Also assisted in composing press releases and verbiage for other client brochures.
SALES Fourteen years in the group market working with wholesale, travel agent, DMC, kama’aina, wedding and corporate markets. Responsibilities include working with and a knowledge of cruise ships, activity agents, military, and on-line programs. Part of a team that successfully increased individual markets and overall attendance to record numbers, developed new markets, and created and implemented new signature programs and promotions.

Hula O Na Keiki at Ka’anapali Beach Hotel
Part of the organizing, planning and implementing of this children’s hula competition since its inception.

Signature events at Maui Ocean Center
Part of the development and implementation of promotions and events that have become signature events and that continue to grow in attendance and recognition. Events such as:

Coral Spawning Spectacle – a week long event focusing on coral health and reproduction including an evening event showcasing live Rice Coral spawning.

Sea of Love - a 4-course Valentine’s dinner with semi-private seating amid the aquarium exhibits, unique and exclusive

Annual Anniversary Celebration – a week long event with live entertainment, not for profit information booths, companies with product samples, children’s crafts, special Marine Naturalist presentations, dedicated Marine Naturalist tours, photo contest, food specials, retail discounts, author signings, and Sea Talks with industry specialists.

Night at the Reef – a monthly evening event in honor of International Year of the Reef 2008 with access to the aquarium exhibits after dark, complimentary coffee and cookies with food and beverages available for purchase, local eco-organizations and Maui Ocean Center booths with information and presentations, and footage from live coral spawning.

World Ocean Day Dinner and weekend Fest – Dinner includes an upscale buffet featuring made on Maui sustainable products, cooking demonstrations, presentations by industry specialists, and award winning live entertainment. The weekend includes information booths and presentations by local eco-organizations, local companies and industry partners with product samples, local artisans, children’s crafts and activities, live entertainment, and cooking demonstrations.
