Kay Wolf, a Certified Festival & Events Executive, has more than 30 years of event management, community development and tourism experience. Currently, she is the Assistant City Manager and Planner for Hidalgo, Texas which boasts two great festivals: Border Fest and Festival of Lights.
Prior to this position, Wolf served as the Director for the Old Hidalgo Pumphouse Museum and World Birding Center in Hidalgo for the past two years. Before this, Wolf spent 6 years as an Event Specialist and Marketing Manager for Dixie Flag Manufacturing Company in San Antonio, Texas and served 23 years as President and CEO of the Aransas Pass, Texas Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Wolf has extensive experience in every area of event planning, event design and event execution. She has worked in tourism, community development and economic development. She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Institute for Organizational Management, the International Festival & Event’s Association Purdue University Certified Festival Executive Program, the Texas A & M Economic Development Basic Course and attended the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute.
During the twenty three years Kay worked as President and CEO of the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce she worked in the community developing tourism, events, and historic projects including renovating a 1933 service station into the tourist center and Chamber of Commerce offices. She also worked in partnership with the City on economic development projects and community development.
Ms. Wolf is a Charter Member and Past President of the Texas Festivals and Events Association. She is a member of the International Festival & Event Foundation Board, currently serving as Secretary. She is the recipient of the Professional of the Year Award and the Hall of Honor Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas Festival & Event Association. In September 2008 Kay was inducted into the International Festival and Events Hall of Fame.
Kay is a past president of the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives and received the Marvin Hurley Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994. She is also one of the founding members and Past President of the Texas Coastal Bend Regional Tourism Association where she was instrumental in bringing the region together to provide educational opportunities, group marketing and tourism partnerships in the Texas Coastal Bend.
